Pathology Recalls

On the receipt of an abnormal test result, patients will be contacted by the practice for a follow-up appointment.  The doctor will inform the patient of the result during the appointment and any subsequent consultation or other action required.  All attempts will be made to contact the patient so that an appointment can be made to discuss the results.

Emails

Our practice is mindful that even if patients have provided electronic contact details, they may not be proficient in communicating via email and patient consent needs to be obtained before engaging in electronic communication via email. Communication with patients via email is conducted with appropriate regard to privacy.

Learn more about phone consults

If you are COVID positive and need to speak to a GP and are an existing patient, you can book a phone consult. Please do not come to our clinic if you have been notified that you are a close or casual contact of a COVID-19 case and/or if you have been to a COVID-19 exposure site. You can instead book a phone consult if you are an existing patient with your GP to obtain a referral. Either before or after you have your phone consult, you should call the COVID-19 hotline on 1800 020 080 to find out if you are eligible for testers who will visit your home within 48 hours. You can read more here for information about in-home COVID-19 testing. More information about testing, including the full list of GP Respiratory Clinic locations and other testing locations, is available from the QLD  Department of Health COVID-19 website.

Masks

Currently, masks are required for all patients aged over 12 while in the clinic (unless the doctor you are seeing allows otherwise).

Even if you are fully vaccinated, the hard work is not done yet, and we all need to remain vigilant, including:

  • Follow the restrictions on meetings with others.
  • Get tested if you feel sick (see the symptoms to watch out for below, plus details of how to get tested).
  • Isolate yourself immediately at home if you feel sick, until you get your test result.
  • Work from home if you can.
  • Maintain social distancing, by stating at least 1.5m from other people at all times.
  • Wash hands often with soap and running water (or with alcohol based hand sanitizer), for at least 20 seconds. Dry with paper towel or hand dryer.
  • Try not to touch your eyes, nose or mouth.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. If you don’t have a tissue cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve or elbow.
  • Wear a face mask in accordance with the government’s requirements.
  • Don’t shake hands or touch others.

Zero Tolerance for abuse

Zero Tolerance for Abuse Policy: The Practice takes it very seriously if a member of staff is treated in an abusive or violent way.We have a ZERO TOLERANCE approach to any verbal, aggressive and violent abuse and behaviour towards our Drs, staff and nursing team or other patients. Our Drs and practice staff have a right to care for others without fear of being attacked or abused. To successfully provide these services a mutual respect between all the staff and patients must be in place. Dealing with people who are abusive or aggressive towards our staff and our patients, takes us away from caring for you. All our staff aim to be polite, helpful, and sensitive to all patients’ individual needs and circumstances. The staff understand that ill patients do not always act in a reasonable manner and will take this into consideration when trying to deal with a misunderstanding or complaint.

However, aggressive behaviour, be it violent or abusive, will not be tolerated. Abusers will be required to leave the Practice and be asked to transfer their care to another practice. In extreme cases, including refusal to leave the Practice, will result in the police being called. We have the right to refuse treatment and take further action against anyone who threatens the safety of our staff and our patients.

In order for the practice to maintain good relations with their patients the practice would like to ask all its patients to read and take note of the occasional types of behaviour that would be found unacceptable:

  • Using offensive language or swearing at practice staff
  • Any physical violence towards any member of the Practice Team or other patients, such as pushing or shoving
  • Verbal abuse towards the staff in any form including verbally insulting the staff
  • Racial abuse and sexual harassment will not be tolerated within this practice
  • Persistent or unrealistic demands that cause stress to staff will not be accepted. Requests will be met wherever possible and explanations given when they cannot
  • Causing damage/stealing from the Practice’s premises, staff or patients
  • Obtaining drugs and/or medical services fraudulently

Finally, we ask you to treat your GPs and their staff courteously at all times.
